I am conducting a research project with university educators across Japan who teach using anti-oppressive, social-justice-oriented, inclusive, and/or global citizenship education teaching methods. I am specifically interested in learning from teachers who teach either a) English courses, or b) pre- or in-service teachers how to teach English.

I will use the information learned to add to the data I collected from 20 university educators across Canada who teach using similar methods in an ELL context, as a means to seek a more nuanced and epistemologically anti-oppressive understanding of how such approaches are used in different parts of the world.

If you or someone you know is interested and fits the description, please email me and I will share an information letter that outlines the research in much more detail. In short, I will ask you to read the info letter and consent to the research, complete a short survey (~10-15min), and participate in 1-2 interviews (between April-June 2023). Please feel free to contact me for more information about the project (funded by JSPS’s Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research/KAKEN). Participants will receive a ¥2000 gift card for their time.
